Located on Australia’s Great Ocean Road, this prefab modular home features rusty red Cor-ten cladding, reflecting the red cliffs of the famous surfing Bells Beach, while requiring no maintenance in this harsh environment.

With its linear shape, the prefabricated structure is oriented to capture the northern sun for maximum passive solar gain. The robust form blocks cold south-westerly winter winds but opens up to capture cool southerly summer breezes.

This prefab prototype was planned to use standard-size off-the-shelf materials in order to lower costs and minimize material waste. The building is raised off the ground to take advantage of the 360-degree views of the sea and countryside.

Busyboo, if possible, please include the architects’ names when posting anything prefab. It saves posters asking. Thank you.
