Vault House

This modern Japanese home features a lightweight steel frame structure with an interesting R-shaped ceiling. It’s called ’1/4 Vault’ and the reason for its unique roof design is the extreme condition of approx. 1.5 meter height of snow.

On the eastern side, the structure faces a neighboring house, while on the other side the roof curves like a massive arch all the way to the ground.

Despite the numerous existing wall surfaces, windows located at the top of the eastern side, let in plenty of light throughout the space.

Hi Den, I’m not sure about the footprint. You will have to check with the architect – find the link at the end of our review.
