Sumika House: To the point

What do you do when you’re confronted with the challenge of building your home on a narrow lot? You better find yourself an extremely creative architect, like Atsushi and Mayumi Kawamoto. Just look at what they’ve done with this place…

The strict design of the Sumika House is not for everyone; some might see it as cold and estranged, however I would define it as uncompromising. The unique shape of the structure, with its pointed corners, is influenced by the very narrow lot it sits on.

The entrance protrudes from a blank, windowless wall on one side, while at the back, large glazed openings and angular balconies open up onto rolling green hills and sky.
