This limited edition lounge chair is the result of a collaboration between the car manufacturing denizen Maserati, and the long established furniture designers, Zanotta. The chair is a stand alone piece, and allows you to own a piece of the Maserati velocity, even without moving.
Padded on the inside, and manly on the inside, the chair is an echo of the cars themselves. More detailed design elements that match them are the focus on craftsmanship, top quality materials, and shapes with curved but sharp edges.
The chair doesn’t move, but if it did we’re sure the air resistance would be super low. The frame is steel, and the legs in chrome or nickel plated steel too. Top this with the high spec artificial padding and removable Extra Zanotta leather coating, and you have one sexy chair. There are three fittingly understated colorways in light grey, dark grey and mud colored leather.
It is indeed this speed concept that the piece is designed around – the brands have even blended their logo together to produce ‘SPEED IS IMAGINATION ON THE MOVE’. What we like is the way that the collaboration echoes the inimitable leather bucket seats of the sports car, retaining that sense of security and excitement.
Whether you use it as a statement armchair or a gallery furnishing, it is also happily less fuel hungry that a Granturismo.
Even though it doesn’t have wheels, doesn’t mean you can’t take it for a spin.
