crochet pendant light omi1 800x600 - Naomi Paul Omi Pendant Collection

Naomi Paul Omi Pendant Collection

A true artist has the ability to take an ancient craft and surplus materials and create timeless, functional, and contemporary pieces. In Naomi Paul’s Omi lamp collection, she has painstakingly hand crocheted brilliant modern lamps from otherwise surplus materials, typically from the fashion industry. Mercerized cotton and silk, and now even wool, are transformed in to voluptuous elegant pendant lights that float on coordinating woven fabric cables.

Using low-energy light bulbs and designed to ship in a flat package, each lamp is a guilt-free indulgence. The original collection includes glück, sonne, and hanna. The curvy cones are all sculptural artistic pieces. Sonne is a double cone that ends in a roll like a soft woven sweater sleeve. A large chandelier with multiple lamps to brighten any large space, Monika is available in even an extra-large size.

Rich colors of claret and mustard join ivory, grey, and crimson for subtlety or to make a statement. Expanding in to wall lights, Cave gently reaches out from the wall on a brass, copper, or silver arm. In elephant grey, wet sand, or rust, the tones of Cave are as rich and casually opulent as their texture. I am most excited about the limited edition Shetland wool shade collection, created in partnership with The Campaign for Wool Interiors. This puts the beauty and benefits of wool in a completely new light.
