Wordless: doesn’t leave you at a loss for words

Published in Style |

wrapping-paper-wordless

Too many times I’ve found myself in this situation: I’ m rushing out of work at the last minute to get a gift for a birthday party, dinner party or other festive occasion that I completely forgot about. Luckily I can usually get away with a nice bottle of wine or pampering toiletries but then I get home and I realize I also need to wrap them.

Since the local drugstore wrapping paper won’t do (telltale sign…) and the only available rolls around the house have a Christmassy or baby-shower theme I resort to “home-made” (plain white paper which I decorate with glitter glue or stickers from my girls’ stash). While this is ultra personalized (“it’s not a bug it’s a feature…”) it’s exhausting and then I also need to be creative and add a home-made card to go with it. It seems that the lack of “universal” wrapping paper triggered the idea of the “wordless” wrapping paper.

Car Lashes and Crystal Eyeliner: cute and coy

Published in Style |

car-stickers-lashes

Eye lashes and crystal eyeliner for cars? Okay I have to admit these are really, really, unnecessary but so much fun that I couldn’t resist getting them. I love my little car, I haven’t yet reached the stage where I have invested in personalizing it (you know, like getting expensive alloy wheels, hand-painted artwork, dangling rear view mirror ornaments or dashboard covers) but secretly I have pet names for it and sometimes I “spoil” it with little presents like vanilla scented car freshener(!).

I may have watched the “cars” animated movie too many times, but after I park my car and hear the “beep-beep” of the lock I look at its front with the two headlights and the shape of the grill and it always seems to be smiling at me. This is why I like this coy car craze: The Car Lash – fun fake eyelashes that are designed to fit on most cars.

Haroshi: Re-constructed skateboard art

Published in Style |

skateboard-art-haroshi

Haroshi is a Japanese sculpture who creates beautiful works of art from old skateboards. While to us novices they may all seem the same, skateboard structure varies according to factory, brand or popular skater’s signature models.

From his early teens Hiroshi has been a passionate skateboarder. His connection to skateboards goes beyond the sport and his choice of art portrays this. His creations reflect his spirit and aesthetic as a Japanese, for him the art pieces are equal to his skateboards and as a major part of his life they also serve as a means of communicating with himself and with the outside world.
