slim-office-home-2

Whether you work from home like I do, or would just like to have an elegant office corner as part of your living area, the Slim office by studio Bertjan is a choice to highly consider for its beauty and well thought of functionality.

A table originally designed to serve as a dining table was dressed up for the office and the Slim office was born. Simple, chic while having every comfort an office needs, such as drawers and a matching wall panel and trash bin, attached to the office’s leg by a magnet. What an ingenious detail you may exclaim much like I did. Wait till you hear more: the accompanying drawers can be moved freely and attached under the office’s surface just about anywhere it suits you and easily change the position thanks to the magnet system holding them together. Talk about innovative design! Continue reading

That’s the case of Brotherson Barn located in Oxfordshire, UK. A contemporary design was developed in order to accommodate a family program within the ancient stone walls of this restored barn house: this new approach acquires form by using its substance to incorporate, complement and unify the remaining of the existing structure. Converted Stables: adaptability

Charles Darwin once said: “It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is the most adaptable to change.” I firmly believe that it’s the same in architecture… In Portugal, there’s a fine example of a converted survival construction: Converted Stales in Sitio da Leziria. An ancient row of stables has been restored in order to create a summer retreat for a family presenting a total area of 212sqm. Continue reading
