They say that the best things in life come in pairs. Let’s face it – there’s always a need for one more, right? Plastics Duo takes this wishful thinking and puts it into action. This is a versatile sofa for the home, comfortable and soft, elegant but easy.

The plastics are duo but the possibilities are varied. You can play with its design and shape it as you please or need. There are three different models available: a seat with back, the version with a right arm and the version with the left arm. You can really make the most out of two, or shall we say – a duo?

It’s true, we don’t live in a fairytale, however, there’s no reason why we can’t feel like we’re kings of the world. Check out the Master’s Chair – a contemporary interpretation to the good old throne. This is the final result, combining three chair designs: the 7 Series, the Tulip Armchair, and the Eiffel Chair.

Supported on four slim legs, the Master’s seat is roomy and comfy. The back of the chair is its most fascinating feature, characterized by the fullness and empty spaces created by the curvaceous crossing lines of three different backs descending to meet together at the seat. Don’t be mislead by the contemporary design, this is a very comfortable chair befitting a king.

Many cultures have legends as to the origin of feltmaking. This non-woven material has been in use all over the world from nomadic tribes in Asia to manufacturers in Western Europe. As diverse as the people who use it, so are the uses for this material, from clothing and decorative items to construction, automobile manufacturing and musical instruments construction.

With the current movements recognizing the need of sustainability and in search for a healthier ecological environment, the significance of felt as an ecological textile, has led to a rise in its’ use in art and design. floating-bed-longin

I have to admit that when I first saw this bed two words immediately came to mind: bent paperclips and waterbeds (!) that being said, I have to point out that I also find the Float Bed a beautifully designed, extravagant and very calming bed that will gently rock you to sleep.

lounge-storage-sofa-ransa

The Ransa sofa is a combination sofa and library and a very simple and elegant fit for nearly any apartment, so the first thing I thought when I saw it was: “how come no one has ever thought of this before?”

I like to read and I always seem to have books and magazines lying around. Of course I have bookshelves, but where am I supposed to put the book while I’m in the middle of reading, or the new release I just got that I intend to read straight after that, and how about those magazines and art books that always seem to pile up on my coffee table (you know, the pile that gets shoved to the floor when you really need to use the table for coffee!). Since I tend to keep any book that enters my apartment, my walls have slowly been taken over by bookcases leaving less space for other furniture.

tetris-couch-sgrasselli

This is going to date me, but the minute I saw the design of the Tetris Couch I had a quick flash to my happy video game playing days. During the 80’s anyone who had a home computer had to play Tetris. The game got its’ greatest popularity kick with the launching of the handheld Game Boy version. Video game consoles, PDAs and mobile devices all have versions of the game winning it the title of the “Greatest Game of All Time”.

Many times, as far as furniture go – less is so much more. Such is the Molded Plastic Eiffel Side Chair by Charles & Ray Eames. This wonderful designer duo had their mind of showing materials as they really are without hiding it. Their design of the molded plastic chair is based on a flexible, comfortable seat with a variety of base options.

The Eiffel Side Chair was the first plastic chair to be mass-produced. Current models are an exact reproduction of the original, with a clean, simple form that is sculpted to fit the body. The shell is manufactured using an environmentally friendly, high-impact plastic and is available in both white and red. Well, less is so much more, and with the inspiration of the Eiffel tower, this chair is all about high class.

Home decor could challenge you in many aspects. But there’s nothing more challenging than furniture. The Dwell/Rapson Lounge Chair is that unique chair that any house should have, that special item that is not part of a set but stands out on its own, presenting its exceptional character and presence.

This modern lounge chair comes in a stainless steel or satin black powder-coated steel frame. modern-commode-marchgut

“Commode” – just saying the word brings up images from other periods in time: bourgeois sitting rooms, softly lighted, filled with hand crafted furniture, billowing curtains and gold framed family portraits hanging on the wall. This image, that also brings with it a revival of traditional values and customs, is what stands behind the March Gut Commode.

Cristoph March and Marek Gut are the design duo that decided to revive these feeling in the furniture they design. Traditionally the commode is a small cupboard fitted with a number of drawers and compartments, something between a chest and a cabinet. Standing discretely in a corner of a room, it was used to store personal stuff.

expanding-chair-flexilove

FlexibleLove furniture is a flexible cardboard chair that you can expand and shape according to the number of people you want to seat.

How many people can we seat? This is the usual question that arises whenever we plan to have friends over for dinner or lunch. We always seem to have more friends than chairs so we’ve started sending out “bring your own chair” invitations. To date we haven’t had anyone decline our invitation because of this (why say no to good food and fast company?!) but it’s not the best solution.

On one such occasion I got a call from a friend: “cancel the chair request, I have seating for everyone”. With no other information available, I had to trust our friendship and hope we won’t be eating off the floor. She arrived with two FlexiLove chairs and with a triumphant grin expanded them to the exact length of the table. It took all of 5 minutes and I had a perfect seating solution!

indoor-outdoor-chairs-viento

The Viento chair is designed with Italian aesthetic and makes for styled entertaining, both indoors and outdoors. I have a dining room table that comfortably sits eight people and most of the time this is sufficient. When I invite my friends over for dinner I can expand it to sit twelve. I also have another set of table and chairs that are weatherproof because in the summer I like to entertain outdoors.

Up till now I have been using three types of chairs: eight regular dining room chairs, four folding chairs, that I keep in storage, and some more chairs that are suitable for outside. Ever since I bought the Viento chairs I have solved one of my biggest problems – space.
