Small house design and the compact house is a part of our Interior Design Style series.

A small house is much easier to maintain and keep clean. It is also more energy efficient while integrating in the surrounding landscape. Most of the time a compact interior design will be too cramped with furniture and cluttered with small items because the owners are trying to maximize their living space, in doing so they are actually creating a feeling of a crowded busy space with no room to breath.

As I write about Tuscany, I can still hear the bells of San Gimignano tolling in the background while I walked the winding cobbled stone streets of this beautiful Tuscan hill town.

it’s no surprise why the natural settings of the Tuscan region is so appealing for most people; relaxing in the Tuscan sun with a chilled glass of wine in hand, overlooking the sunny hillsides and vineyards; the scent of herbs engulfs a rustic stone farmhouse and wrought-iron gate, light fixtures and garden furniture, all overshadowed by Terracotta roof tiles. I don’t know about you but this brilliant restaurant interior design seems to come out of a Tim Berton movie in a Sleepy Hollow(ish) sort of way. The ambiance of this place is out of this world. I love the colors, the layout and the amazing lighting design.

Here is a 3,000 sq. ft. office interior design by “Because we can” for Three Rings Design, Inc. based upon The Nautilus from the novel “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea”.

Now you tell me, who wouldn’t want to work at a place like this? Forget about working – I would live there! It’s colorful, whimsical and you feel like you’re in a movie or in another world completely. Denmark visionary designer, Verner Panton, a remarkable innovative talent of 20th century design and architecture. He was a master of the fluid, futuristic 60s style design which introduced the Pop aesthetic to furniture and interior design style.

Yet Verner Panton’s style could not have been more different from the soft, naturalistic forms and materials which were the hallmarks of Danish modernism interior design style, Panton envisioned a colorful future. His passion lay in experiments with plastics and other materials to create vibrant colors in the geometric forms of Pop Art. His creations are known for their bold beautiful colors and shapes.
