There is something about Scandinavian summer cottages that pull the strings of my heart towards happiness… much like this one presented today, situated in Tibirke by lake Arreso, owned by the painter Bear Agertved and his girlfriend Maria Krogh. Characterized by rustic elements harmoniously mixed with clean modern lines, it provides a calming environment to spend weekends, rejuvenating, while enjoying the pretty interiors.
Filled with tones of natural light, the owners have infused some serious feeling of warmth by using shades of chocolate brown all around, from the natural wood of the furniture, to the leather seats of the dining area’s chairs, the sitting nook’s armchairs, the unmistakably charming leather butterfly chair, the double bed’s headboard and the incredibly cozy blankets and throws covering both beds.
The space feels light and airy yet inviting, which is just how a vacation home should be like. Enough elements to make someone feel at home, yet then, as little as the necessary so as the much wished for sensation of lightness, space and change to settle in.
White walls all over reflect the pretty light, enhancing the feeling of space, with the exception of the wall above and behind the elegant, metal fireplace being dressed in rectangular stone tiles in various shades of grey. I absolutely adore this detail, much like I do the vintage map decorating the living room’s wall, the old wooden tennis rackets in one of the bedrooms and the framed blackboard placed above the wonderful kitchen table, standing on natural birch bark, in lieu of legs.
Finally the entryway’s sliding door and the weathered blue metal signs portraying streets in France are some more additional elements on this welcoming Scandinavian summer house that made my heart skip a bit. And how about you?
