If you live in West Vancouver, Canada, on a stunning site overlooking the sea, it is wise to create an interior palette from what nature has to offer. This new home’s interiors, designed by Claudia Leccacorvi, are selected from nature’s finest in color, material, and texture.
It never hurts to enter a front door and see all the way through the home to the forest and the sea beyond. Just inside an open stair of stone slabs with a glass guard and brushed stainless hand rail is highlighted by the central sky light above. Sand colored wide plank wood floors stretch through the main floor.
Dining for eight is cozy under a pendant light of smoky glass bubbles. I could chat for hours in the nubby fabric of the Saarinen designed chairs around the soft glow of the clean lined wood table.
In the main lounge beyond you’re surrounded by two walls of black steel framed windows, one of which is divided by a split face stone wood burning fireplace. Seating choices are generous from knotty wool poufs to linen covered sofas or a soft pebbly rug or a mod classic chair in a splash of poppy red.
The kitchen entertains as well with sleek rich chocolate wood cabinets topped with glossy white and seating for six at the island. Just around the corner is a home office where I’d accomplish almost nothing, being distracted by the pool and nature outside.
Upstairs the main bedroom suite wears a palette of blues plucked directly from the sea and sky and silver and pearl from the clouds and the waves.
