This white-washed open plan apartment acts as a living gallery for some of the world’s mid-century modern design icons. Yet the compact space is bright with day light and a hands-on warmth and comfort. All pretension has been left outside the frosted glass-paned front door. You’re greeted by the orange Kangaroo coat hook and a bright lemon yellow molded plywood chair to assist you in removing your shoes.
Hefty wood floors with a burly grain add a quiet spice and texture throughout the home. In the living area they are warmed by a luscious mocha rug of mottled graphic interpretations of stone or hide.
A deep low slung grey linen covered sofa with a slim open steel frame floats over the rug. An Eames walnut stool cozies up to an Arne Jacobsen egg chair. A slim work area is built in to the corner near the kitchen and the sleek white cabinets contrast subtly with the adjacent white painted brick wall.
The L-shaped kitchen is sleek and minimal and the George Nelson ball clock keeps you on schedule and in style. A bright window bay drops more names with its Eames molded plywood lounge chairs and Eames molded plywood coffee table!
A deep and wide hall doubles as ample yet hidden storage for the home. The modern bath is lined in glossy vertically grained and vertically oriented tile. The wall hung porcelain sink is supported by a floating cherry wood jewel box.
