Once again, the creative team at Thomas Kroeger Architects has created a classic combination of quiet elegance meets a riotous evolution of color and geometry. A series of connected spaces blend together to create this dynamic apartment in Berlin.
This apartment is not for traditionalists; its sleek lines, the use of complex geometric shapes and intense bursts of color combines to result in a perfect pairing of modernist meets minimalist.
Upon entering this delightful apartment, guests are engulfed in lipstick-red glazed walls covered in three dimensional panels of intersecting planes. What I love about this apartment is that it ponders the question…”what’s around the corner”?
The team at Thomas Kroeger Architects (TKA) never ceases to amaze me; each of their projects is designed with its client’s individual personality and adaptability of the home to suit their needs.
The library is one of my favorite spaces in this apartment. Floor to ceiling bookshelves create symmetry and also house the owner’s large collection of books. Layered, textured area rugs help to make this potentially cavernous space feel cozy. Look up and you will see an incredible egg shaped sky-dome, flooding the room with natural sunlight.
The kitchen is small, yet optimally functional and painted in a calming shade of pale blue. A cluster of yellow and orange pendant lights casts a soft glow over the dining table. Stemware and coffee service dishes are housed in floating shelves to allow for easy access while entertaining.
Color blocking is added to graphic elements in the bathroom. A simplistic gray and white palette is pumped up with a triangular lemon yellow and gray entry. Storage is plentiful and allows for a clean and uncompromised design aesthetic.
