B21b Kitchen

If you’re looking for a compact kitchen for your office, your first apartment, or your weekend retreat, look no further. When relocating his business, designer Kurt Friedrich developed a simple and completely effective and even attractive small portable kitchen. It’s equipped with a sink, power receptacles, and an induction hot plate. You can even assemble it yourself. Though you may need a plumber to bring water to it and drain it away. You can even take it with you when you move!

Multiple layer birch plywood has a resin laminate wrap on its faces and the exposed layers on the ends add visual interest. It is a kit of parts that slot together easily. Four scissor legs support two perpendicular frame pieces. These then support the open box that becomes the perfect height counter. Your sink rests within this enclosure as well. Outfit the box with drawers or baskets of your choosing. Note how the frame pieces have a circular opening at the end for your dish towel – clever!

Power up your appliances placed right where you wish. Add a tall back plate with a narrow top shelf for spices. A magnetic strip holds knives and utensils. More customization is at your finger tips, though this seems simply perfect as it is to me!
