DL Terrace

First there was camping, then there was glamping, now there is the DL Terrace, which takes modern living and turns it into an outdoor experience! All thanks to Interior Designer Martine Brisson, who won the award for best home terrace at Quebec’s Grands Prix du Design 2015 thanks to this space set in nature.

The DL Terrace is actually an extension of the workings of Architect Bernard Perreault, who built the home it is perched off of. And this terrace was something the two young homeowners wanted to ensure wasn’t simply a place to hang their hats, but rather a destination for family and friends to come and relax, dine and enjoy.

Offering a full outdoor kitchen, dining room, children’s play zone and a swimming pool, the DL Terrace is nothing short of a residential resort, for which you can only gain access through personal invite.

Delivering an expansive cedar pergola, it provides a certain amount of shade and privacy, and enhances the overall look of this outdoor living area. The weathered wood flooring is reclaimed, and gives a subdued shabby-chic appeal to the stainless steel modern finishes and appliances, while the opposing banquettes offer both a place to eat, play, and/or provide storage as needed.

With a long narrow pool emulating the elongated features of the home, the glass safety fence it is surrounded by offers clear view of the calming blue water – waiting for the first willing participant to take a splash. This pool also becomes a focal point during the evening hours, when the light cast from its watery depths echo along the wooden slats of this amazing outdoor space.

So if you’re over camping and not interesting in glamping, you just might want to become friends with this young duo in order to enjoy their brilliant outdoor retreat!
