Beach House Decor: Brazilian Design

Here is a different take on the nautical style of the beach house. This beautiful home belongs to the Brazilian designer Sig Bergamin, and it portraits a sense of seaside casual full of colors, patterns, textures and style against a crisp backdrop of white floors, walls, and ceilings.

This beautiful coastal retreat is located in Trancoso, Bahia – a Brazilian coastal village full of brightly colored colonial houses, fashionable shops and restaurants, and of course, pristine, white-sand beaches.

The unusual combination of the village dirt roads and private jets is reflected in the house decor, where stately Brazilian colonial chairs and traditional African patterns are mixed with Mies van der Rohe’s modern Barcelona stools in white leather, vintage travel posters, a massive wood Buddha head from Laos and a Chinese opium bed discovered in Bali.

What I love about this unique interior design style is its balance. It is exotic and modern, colorful yet surprisingly calm and relaxing – all at the same time.

“Here I tried to make the decorating very easygoing, like the people. …I try to mix colors and patterns whenever possible. I also have no problem mixing things from all over the world. That is one of my signatures as a designer. Perhaps that is why today I have four dogs named Africa, America, Asia, and China.
I wanted to create a tranquil and unpretentious mood. This, I think, is what a Brazilian beach house should be.” – Says Bergamin.
