When elegant aesthetics meet playful and innovative design everything is possible… even dining or holding board meetings while… swinging!
“What else will I see?” exclaimed I to myself after becoming familiar with Swing table designed by Christopher Duffy for Duffy London studio.

This is more than absolutely brilliant. While rocking chairs have been since long part of our lives as much as swinging chairs in the form of hammocks or floating couches for siesta summer times or long talks at the veranda, swinging chairs combined with a table, associated with dining or boardroom meetings is a completely new thing around the designing block.

Looking at it makes me feel that it is so natural that such a piece of quirky furniture exists, cause it simply looks quite harmonious and over simplified. Yet for the designer to have been able to reach to its conception and final realization, a series of “a-ha” moments must have proceeded.

As you may have already noticed, the table’s basic structure – or else its four legs which are elongated above its surface – serves as a suspension place for eight swinging chairs and a central GEO lamp. Particularly nice is the the dialogue between the shape of the chairs and the lamp, creating a sense of continuity.

It must be amazing floating around the table whether dining or having a meeting around it! Everything must feel lighter, funnier and somehow brighter when participating in such a “room in a room” structure!

Having a length of 2,35 cm, a height of 2,20 cm and a width of 1,34 cm it will comfortably accommodate eight people around the thick surface, while sitting on the geometrically shaped swinging chairs. Made from walnut and powder coated mild steel, it is available in a white structure combined with white chairs and a wooden table surface or a black structure with black table surface and a choice between black or red chairs. Wondering which is my favorite combination? It is by far the white and wooden one. Notoriously elegant and fresh at the same time.
