The beauty of modern design is that it’s always a step (or two) ahead of its time. Every now and then I come across a piece of modern art that makes me take a step back and say “what the…??!”
The Balancing Boxes by Swedish design firm Front may have some explaining to do (in a good way, of course). Looking as though to be defying the laws of physics, this playful yet minimalist multi-functional bedside table design was inspired by the idea of ‘challenging gravity’, resulting in a series of boxes that looks to be hovering in space.
The boxes are fashioned from either sheet metal or in a variety of attractive woods to compliment a wide spectrum of interior styles. Much like any creative piece of art the Balancing Boxes are left to interpretation. Its function is in the eye of the beholder and can be used in a variety of ways such as cupboards for storage, a magazine rack, a piece of focal art for display, etc. Either way you choose, you can rest assured it’s definitely in high style.
