Porro have brought out the Web ‘multipurpose supporting surface’ to the delight of busy minimalists worldwide. The wall-mounted installation can act as a support for anything decorative, or equally functional, as it comes with optional light, shelves and power supply.
It says something about the over-engineered nature of so much home design currently on the market, that a long shelf with an L-shaped cross-section can cause such glee. Indeed a large part of Porro’s success lies in this refreshing simplicity of their collections (I mean, they call their catalogs ‘This is a Box’), and Web is no exception. The optional inbuilt lamp is a simple neon bar, and the shelves are similarly serene.
Thanks to the range of colors and finishes (as well as the universal shape) the Web can cleanly fit into most interiors. Hung low it becomes a console for TVs, or your curated bits and bobs. At waist height it’s a bar or hallway shelf. And at tabletop level (our favorite) a sleek and subtle desk. Perhaps best paired with a state of the art laptop and some design classic chair (see Apple and Philippe Starck for details…).
