Nambe’s products are well known for their elegance and sense of lifestyle since more than half a century ago. In fact the company was founded as early as 1951, in the tiny village of Santa Fe in Northern New Mexico. Together with time, evolution has come and the company has been introducing new collections, along with the older classic ones always keeping their value and being considered collectibles. Tati Collection: Charming Lines and Curves

coat-hanger-tati2

One of the most wonderfully designed furniture collections that I have recently witnessed is the Tati collection by the hands and minds of Broberg and Ridderstrale, two magnificent architects and designers based in Stockholm. The collection includes a desk, a coat hanger, a console, a wall and a floor mirror as much as a range of tables, like a set of side tables, sofa tables and dining tables in rectangular or round form. The basic design characteristic they feature are the rounded edges of their metal frames, combined with sleek, simple, straight lines. A very balanced interpretation, where not only curves and lines are successfully combined, but also materials such as steel, glass, marble, wood and leather. Continue reading

Steel Chair: sticks and handles

foldable-chair-steel-rdj2

Steel chair, unlike its name implies, is made from solid wood. Solid wood that once used to be tool handles, broom sticks, or wooden handles of rakes, spades and flagpoles, all being 28 to 29 mm thick. The color of this chair depends completely on how and where the tools were used, adding a different patina to the wooden texture depending on weather conditions for example. Continue reading

Librato: A multi functional room divider for you and your pet

room-divider-librato

Take the following components : open plan living, your favorite pets and the occasional need for room dividers. Add them all into an equation and you come up with Librato. What is Librato? It is a room divider designed to serve the needs of your beloved four legged friends, while they elegantly get absorbed in the design of your modern home, assisting into defining these different function areas. If you thought plants, curtains or double sided bookcases are the only ways you can achieve that, it’s time to reevaluate by considering Librato. Continue reading

Demijohns: Pretty fall accessories

iron-mesh-demijohns-blrd

Fall is spreading in this part of the world, making our homes places to be spending more and more time at. It’s a calling for making some changes, adding something new or perhaps retrieving something old from the cupboards and giving it a whole new life. How do you like antique demijohns? Perhaps you, like me, really like them for the rustic and relaxed feeling they easily add in our spaces, yet are concerned that finding the right ones might cost a little fortune. After all, antique hunting is quite often an expensive sport, unless we get lucky with our occasional flea market finds. Continue reading

iittala Lantern: Glass and fire

candleholder-lantern-iittala

Anyone loving the easiness with which atmosphere is set in our living environments just by lighting up a few candles? Almost certainly there are more than just a few out there… As fall is falling here in Europe the call to redecorate, to refresh and to add some more wintery notes at home is intense. Time for warm drinks in the company of good friends in the evening, dinners around nicely set tables, or perhaps just reading a book wrapped in a blanket. Whichever the case, adding a few flickering lights here and there will make your home’s mood cozier than ever. Continue reading

Giant Birdsnest: Lounge In Nature

lounge-furniture-birdsnest

Design never seizes to amaze me… Giant Birdsnest is a concept that totally got me with its innovation. Nature seems to be an endless source of inspiration for us as humans and designers, always managing to fire the next great creative moment. This cool lounge piece of furniture was conceived and created as a prototype for new and inspiring socializing spaces. In fact it’s a fusion of furniture and playground. Continue reading

The Mix Match bag by MHWay is a light and transformable rucksack and satchel made from lightweight sustainable plastic. You can make it yours by adding the optional kit hooks that give it a backpack personality, an optional internal knick knack pocket, or (the most cool), by changing the color strap to a new contrasting shade. Continue reading

Le Trulle: suspended sculptures of light

suspension-lamps-letrulle

When everyday objects like lamps are transformed into absolute poetry, there is definitely much more coming into our lives than just mere light. Childhood recollections, good moods can be all communicated via an object’s design and this is exactly what Edmondo Testaguzza managed to do, when designing his collection of suspended lamps, carrying the name Le Trulle. They are beautiful ceramic lamps featuring soft lines, total absence of edges, where the upper part is connected to a metal thread shade, all bonded together under the common denominator of total whiteness. Continue reading

Seat bleu/green: On the couch, on the trend

chaise-longue-bleugreen2

Whether or not minimalism is worn out, this psychiatrist-inspired seat and chaise longue by design duo Muller Van Severen is fresh to the eyes.
The design ethic is one of strength and lightness. Powder sprayed cylindrical metal tubes network around a light and simple pair of canvas hangings that support the user (in a delightfully artsy pose no doubt). The look is fuss free and classical, yet smart enough to make design junkies look twice, and maybe even Instagram. What’s more, should your budget spread to it, there is the whole of the latest collection to share its space. Continue reading
